The phone will ring in the Scheckter’s Monte Carlo apartment and it will be Piero Lardi, asking Jody to be at Fiorano on Tuesday for collaudo. Scheckter will know that there will be no tyres to try, no records to break. Rather, he will be driving the cars slowly, checking gear ratios, bedding-in pads.
